Should you have any Safeguarding concerns please do not hesitate to contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead Mrs Ruth Nelmes or our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead Mrs Kate Gresham.  Our Chair of Governors, Mr Brian Irvine is our Safeguarding Governor.  Our Safeguarding and Child Protection policy can be found on our Policies page.

At Staverton CE Primary School we are committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  Our school is a safe place for children and every every adult in our school takes  the responsibility for Safeguarding our children extremely seriously. We have trained Designated Safeguarding Leaders and a Designated Safeguarding Governor.

Teaching children how to stay safe and what to do if they feel unsafe is embedded in our curriculum.  Children are taught Protective Behaviours and these are revisited frequently, with all children knowing who their named trusted adults are on their safety network.  We have annual visits from Childline and our PCSO who delivers The Blue Butterlfly Project to help children understand the feelings they might have and the importance of talking to a trusted adult to get help and support.  Children have workshops with Simon Aston, an online safety and wellbeing officer,  who encourages the importance of giving children a strong foundation to digital resilience by allowing them to explore the online world but with boundaries in place.

Our staff recruitment policies and practices meet safer recruitment requirements.  We always pursue identity checks and qualification checks and we take up written references before confirming employment.  We require clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) before employing any staff, in addition to pursuing ISA list checks; this includes supply teachers and outside club and coaching staff.

Northamptonshire Early Help

What is early help?

Every family goes through challenging times at some point. Early help means working with you and your family so that small problems don’t become big problems. Early help is for everybody, for families with children and young people of any age. And it’s your choice whether to have it or not.
Why would I want early help?
There are lots of reasons why people look for early help. It could be that you’re worried about your child’s health, development or behaviour, or how they’re doing at school, or perhaps because you are caring for a disabled child. It may be that you’re worried about
money or housing and how that is affecting your family. Maybe your child or your family is affected by domestic abuse, drugs or alcohol or crime. Perhaps your child is a carer for other people, or maybe you’ve had a bereavement in the family that’s made life a
real challenge.

In August 2014, our school became an academy, joining the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust.
