We follow Jigsaw PSHE programme for our well-being curriculum which connects the pieces of Personal, Social, Health and Well-Being Education. The programme teaches children emotional literacy, social- and lifelong skills, RSE/RSHE and resilience in an age-appropriate manner, equiping them with the tools for happy and healthy livestyles. Jigsaw nurtures children be confident and successful, preparing them for the challenges of the modern world.
Jigsaw consists of six half-term units of work (Puzzles), each containing six lessons (Pieces) which are sequential starting with 'Being Me in My World' (BM) at the beginning of the school year and working through to 'Changing Me' (CM) at the end of the year.
Lessons follow a similar structure throughout the school. Children are given a simple task to calm themselves and to open their mind before each lesson. We make the lessons as interactive and engaging as possible, often involving practical and discussion tasks. We abide by the jigsaw charter to ensure everyone is heard and respected.
In addition to the Jigsaw programme, we have various outside speakers, professionals and agencies come into school to deliver assemblies and age-appropriate workshops on a whole variety of topics. These enable us to provide the children with specialist knowledge in a fun but informative way.
