Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) at Our School

At Staverton Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential. We provide inclusive, high-quality teaching and tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

📌 Our Approach

We ensure that:

  • We work in partnership with parents and carers
  • Children's needs are identified early
  • Support is effective and personalised
  • All children feel included, valued, and supported

Our goal is to help every pupil thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

🏫 Leadership and Vision

At Staverton Primary School we:

  • Have a clear vision for inclusion
  • Set high expectations for all pupils
  • Ensure staff receive ongoing training in SEND support

We work together to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where children with SEND have a sense of belonging.

📚 Quality of Education

We provide:

  • A broad and balanced curriculum
  • Adapted lessons to meet individual needs
  • Inclusive teaching so all pupils can learn alongside their peers

Teachers carefully plan lessons to ensure accessibility for every child.

🔍 Early Identification and Support

We believe in identifying needs as early as possible.

We support pupils through:

  • Individual Support Plans tailored to individual needs
  • Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans where appropriate
  • Close collaboration with parents and external professionals

🌈 Pupil Experience and Outcomes

We regularly review:

  • Academic progress
  • Behaviour and attendance
  • Emotional wellbeing

We also listen to the views of:

  • Pupils
  • Parents and carers
  • Staff

This helps us continually improve our provision.

🧩 PINS – Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools

We are proud to be part of the PINS programme, which supports schools to better meet the needs of neurodiverse pupils, including those with autism, ADHD, and sensory differences.

Through PINS, we:

  • Work closely with health professionals and specialists
  • Strengthen support for children who may not yet have a diagnosis
  • Develop staff understanding of neurodiversity
  • Build stronger partnerships with parents and carers

This approach helps us create a more inclusive environment where every child is understood and supported.

🤝 Inclusive Practice

We are proud to be an inclusive school where:

  • Pupils with SEND learn alongside their peers
  • Differences are respected and celebrated

Local Offer

In September 2014 a new Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) was published. As a result every local authority must identify education, health and social care services in their local area provided for children, young people and families who have Special Educational Needs or disabilities and include them in an information directory called the Local Offer.
